Task #2

Part 1 - take several photos on the same white balance setting at different times of the day...

The second challenge has proven to be more difficult for me... Trying to find the time to be at the same spot several times in one day is not easy for a busy Mother of two.. between ball tournaments and committments, being here that much during the day.. doesn't happen very often... Only when it's raining... *sigh*

I took two pictures a while back and was holding out to get a day when I could take more than two to see the difference.. but that day doesn't seem to coming anytime soon.

So two pictures will have to do... One in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

Definitely get the idea though.. just from those few hours the difference in the shot is significant.

Part 2 - Take your best shot with a white balance you deem to be correct for this type of picture.

I decided to take another picture in my back yard slightly to the right of this area... the light that was cascading in caught my eye...

I chose to shoot this "full sun" white balance... because I wanted to draw attention to the light and dull the surroundings.. however, now seeing it next to the other pictures.. the color doesn't look as true now... If I had more time, I would have tried many other settings, but this was taken just before I was going out the door to work...

I certainly get the idea of this task though... White balance does play a huge roll in how a picture turns out....

The Photography Workshop

I've decided to embark on a photography workshop that hopefully will help me take better pictures. Just signed up today and have my first assignment. So we will just have to get in gear and get er done.

Task #1 - getting to know your camera...

Because I'm a bit late with joining this workshop I'm going to post a picture I took a couple of weeks ago. On a hike at a local park came across some beautiful flowers. Lady Slippers.. So I got down on the ground and made the shot.

My biggest struggle with the camera is camera shake/hand shake - so I've been spending a lot of time - just taking my time to help minimize that...
